Christians in America – Wake Up!

I feel I must submit this to get the Christians in this country to WAKE UP. There is quite a debate in the Christian community about whether we as members of the Kingdom should be involved in the world. I would submit that as citizens of the Kingdom and as ambassadors for Christ living in this country, we have a responsibility to God. In 1 John 3:8 it states: “He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” In John 15:12 it states: “Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.” We are to do what Jesus did. We are to oppose the Devil and his works, destroy them.

Currently there are individuals in this country who are working very hard to remove "In God We Trust" from our money. This in itself is not a major issue and certainly not an issue of salvation. But I believe this is just one way Satan is trying to strike at Christians. Additionally, one of these same individuals has been raising issues about the use of God in the Pledge of Allegiance and seeking to permanently remove it. This individual is a self-described atheist. Once again, this is a very subtle way to affect the culture. There is a plan to remove God from our society. The author of this plan is Satan. For many including Christians we may say “so what?”. It seems like a small thing. How many small things will we allow to be chipped away until we no longer have freedom to worship? Wouldn’t it please Satan to totally remove God from society? He has convinced many in the world that he does not exist. As Christians we are playing right into the enemy’s plan. There are “Christians” today that say they believe in God, but not in a devil. As Christians we sit in the pews and let the war rage on around us. We let the culture change us, instead of us changing the culture. Ancient Israel made the same mistake. God wanted the nation of Israel to keep His laws and be an example to the other nations. They started out ok. But as they prospered, they started to take on the ways of the cultures around them rather than be the example they were supposed to be. Sound familiar? I am not saying we are ancient Israel or that God chose us as He chose Israel. I am just saying that Christians should be the leading example to society. As Christians we are to influence the culture through the lives we live. Recent polls suggest that statistics on alcoholism, divorce, drug use, infidelity, and spousal abuse are virtually identical percentage-wise between Christians and the secular society. Why aren’t we different? Jesus said, “If the salt has lost its savor, what good is it?” See Luke 14:34-35.

Madelyn Murray O’Hare was just one woman and she got prayers removed from our schools. Why did we Christians just sit silently by? This is another example of the devil working through humans to oppose Christians. If each one of us reflected the example of our Lord Jesus we could transform the culture too by working to reverse the work of the devil. Jesus certainly made a difference in those around Him. In Mathew 23:13- 37 Jesus spoke against those in power in His day. We need to refuse to roll over and be silenced into fear to mention His name. Jesus has already gotten the victory. We as Christians must also gain the victory. The last I understood was that 80% of the people in this country claim to be "Christian". As you know Christian means to be like Christ. Are we like Christ? Many of the men who helped form this country believed that any one who was not a Christian should not even be considered for public office. How different it was then to the way it is now! If a politician even mentions the name of Jesus he is ridiculed. The ACLU is constantly filing lawsuits to remove God from all public places within our nation, and won’t permit the public to acknowledge God. They especially attack any Christians who seek to serve in a public office. They state that someone might be offended at the mere mention of God’s name. For Satan to succeed in tearing down Christianity, it only requires us as Christians to do nothing. Satan is a manipulator and can work through people, as in the examples that were given above. Somewhere in our past we opened the door a crack for him to get in. He has been widening it ever since. He is very subtle. He picks away a bit here and a bit there. It is like the frog sitting in the water in the pot. At first, the water is cool. Then the heat gradually goes up until it is boiling. The frog did not notice because the process was very subtle. We are truly blessed to live in a nation that allows us to worship God. Is it coincidence that Satan will use everything in his power to destroy this nation?

Are we willing to sacrifice life, liberty, family, and property to stand for our Lord and Savior? We must be willing to sacrifice our pride and reputation if necessary for our Lord. Our brothers and sisters in China risk this every day. We have grown complacent. Unfortunately the church thrives in persecution and stagnates in prosperity. We should be willing to give our time and effort to fight any people who seek to remove God from the public arena. We should strive to oppose Satan and his desire to destroy all works of God. Do we allow those around us to know we are Christians? If you were on trial as a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you? Are we willing to endure the same persecution that Jesus did? Jesus Himself said in John 15:20 “Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord, if they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.”

We have stood by and let 50 MILLION babies be killed through abortion. Satan is a murderer. By just letting our voices be heard to our representatives that we disagree with this, we can help stop the murder. It can still be stopped. There are many organizations that are in battle over this issue. This is just one issue we are at risk for the Judgment of God. There are many others. Hopefully we have not gone too far already. Jonah cried out to the people of Nineveh. The king as well as all the people repented in sackcloth and ashes, REPENT Jonah 3:6-10. Many ask that we add our names to petitions to our representatives to help stop it. We can, if inclined, help them out with some funding. The least we can do is sign their petitions. We have let the left- wing liberals force “political correctness” down our throats. The liberals desire that we say nothing against anything that is not politically correct. Jesus when confronted by the Scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23 spoke out to them and told them their ways were wrong. We must raise our voices across this country to our Congressmen, the President, our state legislators, and all those in power. I personally have signed petitions to stop partial birth abortion, signed petitions to require the press to provide unbiased reporting. I have opposed the agenda to allow same sex marriages with petitions and letters to my congressmen. This is a republic. It is the rule of law that governs. We can use the systems in place, just as the devil can, to inspire change. He uses people to use our laws against us. Democracy means rule of the majority. We as voters and citizens have a right and duty to be heard. It is not about politics or one political party over another. It is about our dedication to the Lord Jesus and His values and principles. We must contact our representatives when the opportunities come to oppose the destroyer and those he inspires. The first Christians of this country participated in government. If we expect the country to change we can no longer sit silent. WE are supposed to be the MAJORITY. We must become hot for Jesus. We don’t want to be “lukewarm Christians” in anything. Otherwise, Christ will cast us out of His mouth (Revelation 3:15-16).

This is not about denominations or a “Christian” agenda, but about what the Bible teaches us about our conduct. We are not to use “political blackmail” to effect change. We must not come off as the mainstream preachers who have lost their credibility by aligning themselves with the world. We must work in the order and the authority Jesus has given us John 17: 6-23. He spoke against powers and principalities, so should we. Once again, as Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, so should we. We are to be a self-governing people, people who lived the example of the Bible, people who do not need to be policed tightly, people who do the right things because they are right, and people who stand out in society because of their shining moral example. By apathy and inaction, however, we can instead actually help Satan slowly spread his influence throughout society and undermine the very principles we claim to live by and cherish.

The Bible indicates that in the end times right would be wrong and wrong would be right. Romans 1: 25 says that society has “changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever”. The Bible said that in the last days things would be upside down. 2 Timothy 4: 3 clearly states, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.” WE are to know the times and the seasons. We know our Lord Jesus will return soon. We must let our light shine. Jesus Himself said that, "We must push back the darkness". (Luke 11: 32- 35)  It is our commission, our responsibility, Our Duty to Our Lord Jesus as well as to God. We must do as was stated in this letter earlier – destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8)! WE MUST WAKE UP!! We are warriors of the Kingdom. We must fight against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). Our weapons are the armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:13-17 – “having our loins girded about with the truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, having our feet shod with the gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation, and lastly, exercising the sword of the spirit which is the word of God”.

Jesus fought the enemy wherever He found him. He cast out his demons. He spoke against those who sought to advance the darkness. We too are to do as our Lord and Savior did. We know wrong from right. We know the truth. We need to be willing to tell the truth. Abortion is wrong, we can speak it. Corruption is wrong, we can oppose it. Romans 1:26-27 states homosexuality is wrong. Are we bold enough to proclaim it in petitions to stop “civil union” laws, same sex marriage laws, and other perversions inspired by the enemy? Can we vote against pro-abortion candidates? We live in the most exciting times since Jesus walked this earth. We are to do as He did. We are to work to stop the works of the devil, who, desires to destroy us and the Kingdom of God. The question is will we?

The Lamb was sure to go.

T’wasn’t even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,

To have a Lamb at school.

Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!
Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.

We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That’s in our schools today?
Let’s let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!
