Note from the moderator: This is an article that I received from Jerry Olson back in June of this year. I just received an update from him which I will also send out with this mailing, entitled “Update: My Letter to Dr. Tippin“.  In it, Jerry describes his ministry (service) and the message of healing that God is having him give to his doctor who also “coincidently” has been diagnosed with cancer as well.  Read the article below first before reading the “Update:“, and you will be inspired seeing God working, and how everything that His children experience is for a purpose.  Also, take special notice of how God first sent a prophetic word to Jerry about His plans (Amos 3:7) – in regards to how He was going to use Jerry’s illness to heal others.  Jerry believed the word of the Lord as it was revealed to him through this brother, and then acted in faith in accordance with it.  Whereby, others are now being saved (healed) through Jerry’s suffering and illness.  It is exciting to see how God uses His people to serve and minister to others.  It is especially exciting to see how God chose a newly-baptized member of His Body (Tim) to give a special prophetic message to Jerry which “incidently” led to the conversion (healing) of a long-time alcoholic neighbor lady who had “just happened” to overhear the message being given to Jerry.  I have since learned that this neighbor lady has been completely healed of her alcoholism.  Praise God!

The title above is the title of an e-mail I received today from a Christian brother, Tim.  I met Tim a year ago at a well site in Nevada. I was led to share with him several testimonials about various healings God had brought about over several years previously. You see for the last 10 years or so, God gifted me with the gift of healing. I had shared those stories with Tim. One of the people God had led me to pray for was a little girl that just happened to end up being the granddaughter of Tim’s boss. Later that evening Tim decided to ask God himself for healing and because of this faith God granted him healing mercy on his shoulder. Several months later Tim came to Denver where he was baptized and received the Holy Spirit from God.

Approximately two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I chose at that time to do nothing; but to wait on God and see what He would have me to do. I was told by my doctor that if I left it alone this cancer would one day take my life. My wife and daughters and mother were not very pleased with me when I told them I was not going to seek medical assistance – my doctor had suggested surgery. I was reminded a few days ago what my wife had said to me when I told her of my decision. Quote: “ Don’t you want to see your granddaughter Kianna walk down the isle at her wedding? “ She in particular was quite up set with me at the time.

I can not honestly explain why I chose the course I did at the time. I am a man of faith and I’ve seen God heal many a person over many years as a Christian. I have often laid hands on people and God has healed them. Looking back on it now, I guess it was because I wanted to please God with faith in Him, because I know He is in control of everything in the entire universe. I knew He could take care of little o me.

About a month ago now I decided to go in for another PSA test to determine the status of my cancer, I can not explain why. Well it is much worse now as I figured it would be. Now the doctors are saying my chances for survival are less than 50% and that it has spread in my body. Two days ago, Tim sent me an e-mail that I didn’t originally get. Eric, another close Christian brother, called me to let me know that he had received it from Tim, and that he would send it on to me. Tim was still under the thinking that I had not gone back to the doctor. Tim and I had never discussed my cancer or my thinking about this cancer. Just as Eric phoned me to let me know about Tim’s message to me, a lady walked up to me an sat down right next to me at my neighbor’s house across the street. I had met her before but I do not know her. But as she was seated next to me she could hear our entire conversation. Eric read me the e-mail from Tim. The e-mail read as follows: “God sent a man to me and the man said, ‘This is a message God wants to give to you’.  Right away I thought of you [Eric] and Jerry Olson, because I have received messages from God through you guys before. The new message is to tell Jerry that his cancer is back. Satan created cancer. God created medicine. Jerry will not go to the doctor to be healed because he thinks it is a lack of faith. Not true.  Like He said, ‘Medicine was created by Him.’ If Jerry goes to the hospital there will be persons in his ward that he will be able to heal through God. You have told me before to beware of voices in case it is not Him. I am not educated in the Bible enough to go through Scriptures to see if this was a message from God, or from the devil to shake Jerry’s faith. Anyhow — God just reminded me what He told me through the man – ‘Love is the electromagnetic force that holds atoms (Adams) together, and that all we have to do is believe in Jesus and we WILL go to heaven, no matter what.'”

When I got off the phone the Lord led me to ask this lady seated next to me how she was doing. She told me, “Not well at all”. I asked her if I could help her. My neighbor said to both of us, “I will leave you two to talk”. Anne, my neighbor, knew at that moment that it was time for her to go into the house, which she did immediately. I asked this lady if she wanted to share with me. She began to tell me that she had just been asked to leave her daughter’s home. She had been staying at her daughter’s house next door to Anne’s. She explained that she had lost everything because she had become an alcoholic about 11 years earlier. She was in a very bad way – what you could think of as “rock-bottom”. I explained to her that she needed the Lord’s healing power in order to be restored. We talked and she told me that she needed to be baptized also.  I prayed for her and shared Scriptures with her as well. The anointing God has placed in my hands was used that very same hour that Eric read me Tim’s e-mail. I did not have to wait until I got to the hospital ward.  Remember that the sick and infirmed are everywhere.

God reminded me that we are children of promise, that Jesus was sacrificed before the foundation of the world.  Eph 1:4 says, “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, :5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. :6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the beloved. : 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”. Eph 2:19 says, “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God”.  Eph 4:1 says, “There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; :5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; :6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and in you all“.

I truly didn’t know what to do when my diagnoses came down.  But I am reminded of this Scripture, Mat 6:8: “Our Father knows the things we need before we ask Him.” In addition to our needs, He loves us.  James 2:5 says, “Listen, my beloved brethren; Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” How can I remain thinking about my flesh when I know of another promise from God. I John 2:25: “And this is the promise that He has promised us – eternal life.”

Another important thing I’m reminded of as I write this letter, is that before my cancer I did not appreciate all that I had. All the blessings God has showered on me. Yes, even things in the flesh. A very loving wife, and two wonderful daughters that would do just about anything for me. Even at my age, a mother and father that love me and care about me. Many great brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus that often shower me with their love and concern. It has provided me with a new appreciation for life, each day when I wake up, I know that I may not have many days left. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us.

Father’s day was last week and I was again reminded of my Father’s gifts and blessings. One daughter wrote me, “ I love you very much! You have been a great dad and you are a wonderful grandfather!” My other daughter wrote, “Hopefully we can get to continue on doing things with grandpa. If you don’t make it through this cancer, I want you to know how much you mean to us and how much you will be missed.” My wife wrote:  “Happy Father’s Day to the king of the castle! Love You.”

How can I possibly be disappointed with all that?  I have seven grandchildren! God has blessed me with everything a man could possibly want – way beyond what I deserve!

Can life be difficult at times?  You bet it can. Are some situations seemingly impossible?  May we always be reminded that God has it all under control.

Our Father told us that He would supply all of our needs. That if we believe on His Son, Jesus, and ask for forgiveness we would have eternal life. God did not promise us fame, fortune, riches, wisdom, health, good looks, or any of the other many desires we might have here on earth. In fact we are told that we are called to a life of sacrifice, suffering and service. We are going to have sorrow living this life. Remember Satan is yet, and still, the god of this world. Stress and struggles will follow us all the days of our life. Like the Scripture states, “You will be tested and refined with fire”.

The God and Eternal Creator of the universe promised us all of these wonderful things.  How is it possible that any thing can get us down? Heb 6:13 says, “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself.”  May we always be reminded of this Scripture in our daily walk with Jesus.  Phil 3:14 says, “I press toward the goal for the price of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Three years ago God gave me a picture very early one morning.  I turned to my wife and said God just showed me that Jennifer, our daughter, was about to become pregnant with a baby girl. Approximately 10 months later Abagail was born. I was given a similar picture the same day that Tim was trying to send me the e-mail. Remember Tim’s e-mail about the atom (Adam) or connection through Jesus. Jesus was described in Scripture as another Adam. I Cor 15:45 says, “And so it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living being’. The last Adam became a life- giving spirit.” We are all connected as the children of God through the Holy Spirit. At that very moment, I was reminded of what my wife had said to me two years earlier about missing Kianna’s wedding. God showed me another picture:  I was walking my now 8 year old granddaughter Kianna down the isle at her wedding. You see my daughter, Jerri, and her three children live with me and my wife in our home. On Father’s Day Kianna ask my wife if she could get me a Father’s Day gift.  She did not mention wanting to get a gift for her biological father. In addition, last evening my daughter, Jerri, and the lady that I had met at Anne’s house across the street were baptized! Yes, God moves in mysterious ways.  He loves us and is always working ahead of us to bring about His purposes and providing for our needs. Truly, God has it all under control.
