THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD ARE ABOUT TO BE REVEALED!

By Eric C. Wheeler   eric@sharingtheway.com

I believe that the sons and daughters of God are about to be revealed and released upon the earth. To many, I know these words will seem strange, and even heretical, but I assure you they are not. Notice these verses in the Bible:

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willing, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. And not only they, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption – the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope. (Rom. 8:19-24).

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (I John 3:1-3).

“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Col. 3:3-4).

“By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit… because as He is, so are we in this world (I John 4:13-17).

“For [we] did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but [we] received the Spirit of sonship by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together… For whom He foreknew, He also predestined conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers (Rom. 8:15-17).

Jesus spent the first thirty years of His life living in obscurity. The world did not know He was here; much in the same way that Scripture also describes His cousin John the Baptist, saying: “So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts [living in obscurity] till the day of his manifestation [revealing] to Israel” (Luke 1:80). Jesus, likewise, wasn’t known as the Son of God until He began His public ministry. He began His ministry by referring to Himself as the “son of man” – which is code for being human but having the Spirit of God hidden within Him. This is the key. There are currently a number of humans among us right now who literally have the Spirit of God (also known as the Spirit of Christ: meaning “anointing”) upon them and in them. They are holy; but the world does not know them – because it doesn’t know Him – that is, the world doesn’t know God (I John 3:1). Lest there be any misunderstanding in what I am saying here, let me give you an example: When Moses came upon the burning bush, which of itself was not holy, the Presence of God spoke out of the unclean bramble bush and declared, “Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. I Am the God of your father – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (Exod. 3:5-6). There was nothing holy or good about that bramble bush. It was no different or better than any other bramble bush on that mountain. It wasn’t special or righteous in and of itself. Yet for God’s own reasons and purposes, the Holy One – the Living God – specifically chose it in which to reveal Himself! At that moment, that bush became important! It became special and unique. On that day, it became holy! Even as it was later written describing God as “Him who dwelt in the bush” (Deut. 33:16). This is the same sentiment that Pharaoh expressed regarding Joseph when he said: “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Pharaoh even called Joseph Zaphnath-Paaneah, which literally means “God speaks, and He lives” (Gen. 41:38-45). This is going to happen again! Men and women, and even children, are going to suddenly be revealed as sons and daughters of God in these days! It is coming. For this is what Scripture says! Notice these verses:

“It shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy… And on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy (Acts 2:17-18).

“And I am of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus… For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10).

“For I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ (Matt. 23:39).

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified [note the past tense being used here].” (Rom. 8:29-30).

“And again, when God brings His firstborn into the worldIn bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the Author of their salvation perfect through suffering. Both the One who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So, Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.” (Heb. 1:6; 2:10-11).

“For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, as it was also in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day the Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed (Luke 17:24-30).

These verses reveal the following truths:

  • Just as Jesus was “hidden” in the world for a time, so we too, being sons and daughters of God as well, are currently hidden in the world, and the world does not know (recognize) us.
  • Sometime in the near future, these sons and daughters of God are going to be revealed to the world, and ultimately rejected, just as Jesus was.
  • At the beginning of His earthly ministry, and also after His resurrection, Jesus didn’t openly reveal Himself to everybody, but only to specifically chosen disciples, and to the humble people who could and would receive Him (see John 2:9-11; Acts 10:40-41).
  • Jesus is just the “firstborn” of many more children of God to be revealed. He would not be called the Firstborn if there weren’t more children of God to follow and to be revealed.
  • Notice that Rom. 8:30 says that we are already “glorified” (that is, Christ is already in us and upon us). Our glorification is not a future event, as most Christians erroneously believe. Our glory has just not been openly revealed to the world yet – who and what we are. This is what happened to Jesus. He was initially and originally born of the Spirit; yet the world did not know Him unto the Holy Spirit publicly descended upon Him in the form of a dove, and then He began to preach and teach and to do mighty works among the people (see John 1:31-34; 2:11).

Unfortunately, just like in Jesus’ day, the institutionalized Church as a whole didn’t recognize God coming to them in the form of Jesus; and neither will they recognize and accept us. But some, who were pre-selected by God beforehand, came to believe in Jesus; so likewise, there will be some who will also believe and accept us in these last days. For Jesus said, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:20). God gave some “ears to hear” in Jesus’ day; and likewise, many more will be given “ears to hear” in our day. Are you one of those who can hear? Will you, and do you, recognize Christ (an “anointed one”) hidden among the people? Will you listen and obey what God has them speak?

[Note from the author:  There is so much more that I would like to share on this topic, but the people are not yet, for the most part, in the Spirit; they cannot therefore hear the things of the Spirit. God is going to baptize so many with His Presence and His Spirit – little kids even. He is going to amaze the people, so that no one will be able to say they haven’t heard, they haven’t seen. As it was prophetically foretold long ago: “The mighty arm of the Lord is going to be revealed to all nations and to all peoples; all the ends of the earth shall see the saving power of our God… For what had not been told them they shall see. And what they had not heard they shall consider” (Isa. 52:10,15). Even as Jesus Himself said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he [or she] who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).

People of God, why lie dormant anymore? Why not get up, and be awaken? Why do you still sleep as though dead? Arise and shine, as the Scripture has said, and say to the nations, ‘Thy God, oh Israel, lives!’ Wake up, all you peoples, and worship Him! Come forth, come forth! For holy, holy, holy, is He who has called you! He who speaks the name of Israel – and calls you – great is His name! Stand up now and awaken the nations! For the God of Israel is a fierce God of great strength, and mighty in deed. He will not delay. He will not slumber or tarry. Let Him bring forth the hordes of His saints and show the people their folly! Let Him triumph in them and through them, that the peoples might fear and call upon His name! Yes, let all the world see and proclaim the God of Israel – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – and see His mighty works!]
