Walking in the Spirit
By: Anonymous

Romans 8-1 says, There is therefore now, no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

We want to walk according to the Spirit; this is a life long quest for every believer and the desire of every heart. Unfortunately we know all too well what it’s like to walk in the flesh. We listen to the flesh put fear, worry and/or guilt into our situation and circumstance. We fear that we won’t have enough money or that we are or will become ill. We worry about how we hurt or offend our family and friends. All these things we hide deep inside away from God and away from our awareness. They become insurmountable when we find ourselves in the flesh and away from the Father who tells us over and over how much He loves us and not to fear.

Conquering the flesh and living in the Spirit comes from realizing that we can no longer pay the price the world requires of us. It truly is a joy when you come to understand that all the years of trying, with all of our might, to pay the price of broken relationships, lost finances or failing health can’t be paid by us. Thank God, that He made a way for us through His son Jesus Christ. He paid that price that we could not pay. The scripture that keeps running through my mind is Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

For me, understanding in my heart that I can’t pay the price, brings hope, freedom and peace from the constant nagging of the flesh.
