Be Ready

There are times when the Holy Spirit just leads us through a sequence of scriptures to share a message with us. I share what was shown to me this day in the following.

Matthew 5:14-16(NKJV) You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 25:1-13(NKJV) “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins[a part of the bride of Christ – the church] who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.  Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil[Holy Spirit] with them,  but the wise took oil in their vessels[your body] with their lamps.  But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight[the end of this age] a cry[from God’s prophets] was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out[see Heb. 13:13] to meet him!’  Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.  And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’  But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell[the churches], and buy for yourselves.’  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’  But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Luke 13:23-28(NKJV) Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them,  “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.  When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’  then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank[communion] in Your presence[where two or more are gathered together in His name], and You taught in our streets[the churches].’  But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’  There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.

Matthew 25:24-30(NKJV) “Then he who had received the one talent[spiritual gifts – see I Cor. 12 & Rom 12) came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.  And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground[did nothing]. Look, there you have what is yours[he still had it when Christ came – he had it all the time since it was given to him].’ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew[we know that we are to use our spiritual gifts] that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.  So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers[do something – anything], and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.  So take the talent[Spirit] from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.  And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Matthew 25:33-40(NKJV) And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed[those who were chosen and received the Holy Spirit] of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;  I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?  When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?  Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’  And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

John 10:14(NKJV) I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

John 10:23-27(NKJV) And Jesus walked in the temple[the church, His body, is the temple now – see I Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 6:16], in Solomon’s porch[any place where people meet to talk about God].  Then the Jews[the church people] surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.  But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

My friends if you believe in God then prepare yourselves by doing His works for you do not know the day and time of the visitation (I Peter 2:12) of Jesus Christ for neither did the Jews during their day (Luke 19:42-44). By your fruits will you be known (Matt. 7:16-20). It takes more than communion to enter into the kingdom of God. Remember that the Jews were expecting the coming of the Messiah (Luke 3:15) and so it is today that all of Christendom is expecting the coming of Christ again. Will we miss Him like the Jews of His day? Hear God’s voice and do His works and you will not have to worry about it.
